Lighthouse Arts - Alumni Residency

  • Lada Dedic - Studiolada (map)

I can’t tell you how overjoyed I was to receive an offer to return to the Lighthouse for an alumni residency, and then to see that there was an entire week available when I was already in Newcastle! And over my birthday!

The residency takes place inside the three cottages on Nobbys-Whibayganba headland. The site is part of the working port which features a weather station, a signal tower, and an operating lighthouse on Awabakal land in Newcastle NSW.

The Lock-Up Artist in Residence

I will be spending October 2024 as Artist in Residence at The Lock Up Newcastle, Awabakal Land, Australia… more information soon… soon

The Lock-Up’s nationally renowned Artist in Residence program provides onsite accommodation in the old detective’s office for artists curators and other creatives. It allows space for work to be researched and developed; for experimental and innovative arts practices to thrive.

The lock-up was built to support the Newcastle police station which was housed in the adjacent court house.

The Artist in Residence program enables artists to respond to the unique architecture and history of the 1800’s building, and allows artists the capacity to make responsive and site-specific works.

Supported by the Creative Australia (Australia Council for the Arts), Create NSW and Crown Lands NSW.
